HEAD coach Carl Hogg admitted Worcester Warriors were “very disappointing” in their 34-22 defeat against holders Gloucester in the European Challenge Cup at Sixways tonight.

Warriors were second best for most of the match and will struggle to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Worcester held Gloucester to a 10-10 stalemate at the interval before the holders turned the screw in the second period.

Gloucester scored four second-half tires to open up a comprehensive 34-17 lead after 73 minutes before Darren O’Shea drove over in the dying minutes.

“It was very disappointing,” said Hogg.

“The endeavour was outstanding from the group but we just asked ourselves to defend for too long a period of time, especially for the first 60 minutes.

“We had a huge amount of effort and endeavour in defending but we spent a long time inside our 22 and we have to look at how we manage the game. We were sat in there for a length of time.”
