DANIEL Nti says Worcester City will be ready for whatever the conditions and Southport throw at them on Saturday as they aim to breeze into the second round of the FA Trophy (3pm).

High winds wreaked havoc for the Blue and Whites last weekend as Tamworth swept to a comfortable 3-0 victory in Vanarama National League North at The Lamb Ground.

However, Nti admitted facing such adverse weather had put them in a good place ahead of their trip to seasiders Southport at Haig Avenue.

“Playing with the wind (at their backs), Tamworth killed us, so we have got to learn from that game,” he said.

“Obviously, the conditions are going to get worse, so we need to pick ourselves up and go again.

“We need to know what we did wrong, as Tamworth played the conditions much better than us – but I am sure we will go back to the drawing board.

“Gards (Matt Gardiner) has been amazing in training, so he will just continue to do that and I am sure we will rectify it.”

City have gained a reputation of upsetting the odds having memorably defeated Coventry City last year and this season they saw off hosts Gateshead from Southport’s division in the FA Cup.

Nti says he and his team-mates are relishing the chance to knock out Southport, who are hovering just above the relegation area in Vanarama National League.

But the forward admits they will need to improve on recent performances away from home to progress in the competition.

“We like being the underdog and playing against teams who are supposedly bigger than us, so hopefully we can go into that game with a bit of confidence and grab a win there,” he said.

“If we had played at Aggborough last Saturday, the result might have been different as we are used to the conditions there.

“I am not blaming the Tamworth result on that but in away games we need to be tight and compact.

“I am not saying they are much more important than home games but in order to keep solid we have to play the conditions well and make teams play our game.

“We didn’t do that against Tamworth.”
