DANIEL Nti is confident Worcester City’s strikeforce will bounce back after their misfiring display at Tamworth on Saturday.

The Blue and Whites registered no shots on target at The Lamb Ground as they suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat in Vanarama National League North.

Their attacking performance was criticised by joint-manager Carl Heeley but, having netted eight times in five matches last month, Nti insisted finding the back of the net was not a problem for the team.

“We haven’t struggled with our finishing this season,” he said. “It was a problem last season but this time we have got the strikeforce who can finish.

“I don’t know what happened at Tamworth as it was not our most glorious game in terms of finishing but we created chances, which was good, so we can only build on that. If we weren’t creating the chances, then it would be alarming.

“But we have had three good matches and scored a lot of goals in those games.

“It was just this one game where we couldn’t finish but we will go back to the drawing board in training and try our hardest to rectify this.”

Nti has been struggling to find his scoring boots, with just five goals in 27 games this season and his last coming against Holbeach United at the end of September.

Despite often playing out wide, the attacker said he was desperate to improve his goal tally as he aims to help 18th-placed City move clear of the relegation area.

“I think I have had a good season but need to score more,” Nti said.

“I want to score more, so it is just about practising that on the training field and taking that into the next game because, once I start scoring, I believe I can help the team.

“Yes, I do create chances as well but I love to get into the box and score goals, so it is just something that has been missing from my game for the time being, but I am sure it will come back.”
