THE OPPOSITION: Tamworth.

WORCESTER City will head to Tamworth today looking to record a fourth successive victory, but they face a side in a rich vein of form.

Sports Reporter Geoff Berkeley takes a closer look at the team standing in City’s way.

TAMWORTH
Ground: The Lamb Ground, Kettlebrook, Tamworth, Staffordshire, B77 1AA.
Manager: Andy Morrell.
Captain: Paul Green.
Position: Seventh in National League North.

IT HAS been eight years since Worcester City last won at The Lamb Ground and Tamworth will be confident of continuing that run.

Since suffering a 2-0 defeat to Curzon Ashton on October 3, the Lambs have gone unbeaten in their last six league games and capped off November with an impressive 6-2 victory at Corby Town in the FA Trophy.

Adam Webster and Craig Wilding got on the scoresheet the last time the Blue and Whites triumphed on Tamworth's turf in September 2007. There was a long period where they did not play as the Lambs had a spell in the Conference Premier.

But Andy Morrell’s men enjoyed more success against Worcester, with a 2-1 win earlier this season thanks to first half goals from Shane Clarke and Elliott Durrell before Ryan Rowe netted for City to set up a tense finale.

Speaking to the Tamworth Herald, Andy Morrell said: "We're looking a lot better off than we were last year. But I don't think we have performed to the best of our abilities yet.

"Hopefully we can get a result, there's a run of tough games coming up, including Worcester.

"We've got some great players and we're a younger side than we were last year, and they are raring to go.

"Recently the first 30 minutes have been great, but the remaining 60 minutes hasn't been as good – but I think we are certainly heading in the right direction."

One to watch: Ross Dyer – the striker will be in confident mood after inspiring his side to a 6-2 thrashing of Corby Town in the FA Trophy with a second half hat-trick after Tamworth fell 2-1 behind. The 27-year-old has previously captained Hednesford Town and helped propel Mansfield Town into the Football League in 2013.
