A GOLF trip of a lifetime awaits Worcester amateur Gordon Bailey and professional Graham Farr if they can come through the next stage of Europe's biggest pro-am competition.

Bailey took a step closer to a luxury five-day trip to Turkey when he won the Boughton Park qualifying round of the PGA National Pro-Am Champ-ionship with a nett score of 61.

The 62-year-old, who plays off a handicap of five, and Farr now advance to the regional final on June 4 at Little Aston Golf Club for one round of better-ball medal play.

Each of the 16 regional final winners throughout Great Britain and Ireland will enjoy an all-expenses paid trip to compete in the final.

That takes place between December 12 and 16 on the PGA Sultan course at Antalya Golf Club and competitors will stay at the five-star Sirene Hotel and Beach Resort.

Farr, 46, has been a professional for 24 years and is set to receive £500 if the pair win through to Turkey.

The competition is now in its 23rd year and has an overall prize fund of £30,000, with the winning professional at the final taking home a cheque for £5,000.

Last year's winners were professional Richard Dinsdale and amateur partner JP Ki from the Parc Golf Academy in Newport.
