JENNY Bishop enjoyed success at the Worcestershire and Herefordshire Lady Veteran Golfers Association spring meeting at Kidderminster.

The Worcestershire GC player scored 87 (par 73) to win the best gross trophy and best net in the Silver Division Cup, while club-mate Chris Urry came fourth.

The four players with the best gross scores on the day qualified for the Dorothy Crooke Salver over 36 holes, in which Urry was narrowly beaten into second place on the 36th hole.

June Jones and Jan Bartlett won the fourball betterball competition with 43 points.

Janet Clowrey and Jill Piner were second with 42, beating Jill Exell and Juliet Digweed into third place on countback.

Clowrey is in fine form, also winning the Members Cup with a nett score of 72 (par on the day 74), the Bronze Division and the Gripper Putting Cup with 27 puts. Di Meakin was second with 29 puts. Liz Evans came in with the best gross score of 85.

Meakin won the Silver Division with 76, beating Jan Kirkland into second place on countback and Liz Bird into third.

In the Bronze Division, Barbara Wilkinson was second with nett 73 and April Wilding third with 74.

Lady captain Pat Rose, playing with her son James, had another good round in winning the mixed closed with a score of 42, beating Colin and Jenny Jones on countback.

Derek and Penny Stevenson were third with 41 points.

The winners go on to play for the Bader Cup, a national competition.
