STOURPORT women beat Firebrands 3-1 in their last Investec National Western League before the Christmas break.

The Bristol club went ahead in the 13th minute but the home side equalised through Rosie Lewis a minute later.

It was not until the second half that Stourport took the lead when Claire Pearson scored in the 43rd minute.

In the 51st minute, Georgina Barhurst added the third and final goal.

Stourport are second in the league, one point behind top-placed Sutton Coldfield.

In Midland League Division Two, the seconds lost 4-1 at home to top-of-the-table Leek.

Stourport had the perfect start with an early Emma Pollock goal but Leek came back with two goals from consecutive penalty corners.

The play was even only for Leek to score twice more before the final whistle.

In Worcestershire League Division One, the thirds beat visitors Tenbury 5-2.

Player of the match Sophie Thompson scored four times and the fifth goal was added by Emma Pollock.

The fourths beat Bromsgrove thirds 2-1 without their joint captain Hannah Terry.

Stourport let in a rare goal but a strong team talk from Hannah Yates and Teresa Moss at half-time inspired them on to a 2-1 victory.

Svenja Lee and Lou Marshall scored to keep them unbeaten.

Bianca Homer was on target as Stourport fifths lost 2-1 at Old Halesonians in Division Two.

An over-35s side beat Wootton Wanderers 4-2, with Fran Moss and Karen Robinson scoring two apiece.

Stourport men lost 5-2 at home to Khalsa in the Midlands Premier Division.

Two disputed goals put Khalsa on their way before Andy Cavendish scored from a short corner.

George Southall’s deflected shot also put Stourport on the scoresheet but Khalsa bagged two late goals.

Stourport head to leaders Leek on Saturday (2pm).

Dan Fisher, Adam Leeke and Chris Parry helped Stourport seconds to a 3-2 win at Bournville in the West Midlands Premier Division.

Captain Paul Edwards converted two short corners in the thirds’ 2-0 win over Olton in Midlands Division One.

Godfrey Lamb slotted home as Stourport fifths edged out Worcester 1-0.
