WORCESTER Reds won 30-22 as they hosted Premier Romans just below them in England Premier League Two.

They took hold of the game at Dean Close School, Cheltenham, from the start with a different combination of players and led 9-7 in the first quarter.

But changes from the bench unsettled the squad and, although the lead was held, the game did not flow and chances were missed by both teams.

The defence, including Danielle Huggins and captain Rachel Sweet, were outstanding and did not give an inch to the away shooters.

More changes in the second half strengthened Worcester and helped them provide the young shooters with opportunities.

Regular turn-overs allowed fourthplaced Reds to win comfortably by eight points, but it was a low-scoring game for such experienced players.

Reds travel to Taverham Hall School, Norwich, to play bottom-of-the-table Thoroughbreds on Sunday.

They are looking for sponsorship from companies or individuals to help with the high costs of travel and kit.
