WORCESTER'S Tobi Ishi Kai Karate Schools topped the medal list at two competitions.

They impressed at the West Bromwich and the Mushindo Wado Kai Karate Kata Championships.

Entries were in categories from under nines beginners to senior pairs and teams.

The medal tally reached 70, including 25 gold, 16 silver and 29 bronze, over the two events.

Chloe Hooper, Tara Wilson, Emily Davies, Callum Whatmore, and Rebekah Bennett claimed golds in their individual events.

In the pairs, Davies and Whatmore and Katrina Wilson and Hooper won their events. Team golds went to Katrina Wilson, Hooper and Tara Wilson, Davies, Whatmore and Brandon Maskell and Bennett, Pheobe Graver and Tom Blundell.

The club's senior instructors Mark Beeby and Justine Wilson were delighted by the team display on both days.

Tobi Ishi Kai Karate Schools are rated the top wado kai karate school in the country, recording the highest medal tally this year of 110 in total.

Beeby has also passed his fifth dan grading.

The schools hold a variety of classes at Lyppard Grange Community Centre, Nunnery Wood Sports Centre, Perdiswell Sports Centre, Whittington School, Northwick Manor Primary and Junior, Claines Primary and Perdiswell Primary throughout the week.
