NUNNERY Wood High School's year nine girls earned a dream date at Twickenham in the Under 14s Emerging Schools Competition.
The Worcester pupils lost 10-0 to Gillingham School, of Dorset, in the final but enjoyed their day out at England's home of rugby union. After winning their initial regional round with wins over five local schools, they defeated Walton High School in the West Midlands final.
Nunnery Wood then topped their pool in the national finals at Staines, winning two matches and drawing one.
Captain Hannah Stirling, who plays for Worcester Under 14s and the West Midlands, then led her team-mates out at Twickenham before the annual match between the Army and Royal Navy. Following a close contest, Stirling and her fellow pupils walked up the stadium steps to collect their runners-up trophies as well as meeting RFU representatives.
Nunnery Wood's Chloe Bryant was top try-scorer for all three tournaments, crossing the line 21 times.
