ANDY Preece will not rush any Worcester City players into decisions about their futures.

Seven players have been offered contracts for next season but were given until at least the end of this month to make up their minds.

George Clegg, Nick Colley, Shaun Findlay, Danny Hodnett, Shabir Khan, Gary Walker and Troy Wood are all mulling over terms. Manager Preece said: "I just want them to think about it and make sure they come to the right decision."

Preece is also continuing to talk to several mystery transfer targets but does not expect anything to materialise for a few weeks as they ponder their options.

The City boss also praised Farsley Celtic, who beat City home and away, after the Leeds club beat Hinckley United 4-3 in the Nationwide North play-off final to join Droylsden in the Conference.

He said: "They have done very well. The manager and the players deserve massive credit and I wish them all the success. They have had to work extremely hard for it and beat Hinckley and Kettering to get there."

Meanwhile, St George's Lane hosts an under 19s match between Russia and the Czech Republic today.

The UEFA Under 19s Championship elite round group three clash takes place at City's home at 3pm and admission is free.

It is only the third time the club has staged an international fixture after Macedonia played Moldova in a UEFA Under 19s Championship match in 2002 and England youth took on Wales in 1950.

England and Holland are the other teams in the group aiming to qualify for the finals in Austria in July. England play their matches at Coventry, Walsall and Northampton.

Former Worcester City midfielder Chris Cornes has signed a one-year deal at AFC Telford United.
