WORCESTER Nomads suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Pershore in Worcestershire League Division One.
Geoff Taylor top-scored for Nomads with 33, while Danny Rees (30), Darren Lakin (20) and James Smith (25) all chipped in as the home side posted 144.
For Pershore, veteran Martin Johnson bowled 18 tight overs and Howell finished with 3-20.
Pershore lost wickets steadily in their reply and a home win was never out of the question. However, visiting captain Steve Cooper (37) and Phil Oxley (32no) steadied the ship.
Oxley's innings was vital to his side's three-wicket success. Vinny De Souza (3-31) was the pick of the Nomads attack.
Meanwhile, Nomads seconds gained ground on other teams in their league, by gaining a good winning draw at Pershore.
Dave Finbow (71no) and Josh Stafford (45) helped the away team to 233-7.
In reply, Pershore were never in the hunt to reach the winning total. However, they managed to defend well enough to hold on for a losing draw. Matthew Ormerod and Nick Lloyd took two wickets each, while Goodreds and Finbow both got one.
