A WORCESTER football team stormed off the pitch without picking up their runners-up medals after a controversial cup final.
Trinity Lakes, who are on the verge of clinching the Worcester and District Sunday League Premier Division title, had three players sent off in a tasty clash with rivals Arrow 2000.
The Warndon team lost the Worcester Nursing Junior Cup final 2-1 to a late penalty and then decided to dodge the presentation afterwards in protest.
Worcestershire FA confirmed they will be investigating the referee's report into the goings-on at Pershore Town's King George V Playing Field ground.
Brickfields-based Arrow have enjoyed the upper hand over their city opponents in recent months but Trinity look set to have the last laugh by claiming the championship.
Arrow captain David Faulkner said: "I'm proud of our lads for their efforts.
"The Trinity Lakes' players did not pick up their medals as their manager took them away to the changing rooms."
Worcestershire FA disciplinary secretary John Lovegrove confirmed he had received a report from the match referee.
