KIDDERMINSTER Harriers' FA Trophy defeat has sparked a mixed reaction among the club's fans.

In the wake of Saturday's 3-2 defeat against Stevenage Borough at Wembley, fans have been quick to post their feelings on internet message boards.

Most reflect the disappointment felt as Steve Morison's 88th-minute winner secured the first piece of silverware at the new national stadium for Borough.

But Harriers manager Mark Yates has also come in for criticism after his side let a 2-0 half-time lead slip.

One supporter on a Harriers fans forum wrote: "I really thought we were going to win but I am afraid our inexperienced manager was outgunned by one who read the game and saw our strengths and weaknesses and changed things at half-time."

Another commented: "It looked to me that our tactics changed at half-time and we let them come at us and boy did it backfire."

But many believed it was the occasion more than the result that mattered in the grand scheme of things.

One said: "I organised a party of 50 from Bewdley. Many had never seen the Harriers before and most will probably never see them again.

"But we had a fantastic day out. We saw a magnificent stadium, saw an open, entertaining game of football, drama, endeavour, passion and commitment.

"We saw what sport is all about. At the end of the game, the players were exhausted and distraught and I felt for every one of them."

And another added: "Every single one of those lads did the club proud. I was gutted when Stevenage equalised and distraught when they scored the third.

"But at no moment during that game did I feel that any of the players were giving less than 100 per cent and for that I'm grateful and proud."
