WORCESTER schoolboy Jon Roberts produced two knock-out performances in the space of six days.
His first triumph came over Matt Burke of Cleeve ABC at a tournament in Gloucester where Roberts' constant pressure with potent right hands prompted the referee to give Burke a standing count early in the first round.
Burke battled on with minor success from long straight punches but could not evade the two-fisted onslaught from the Worcester boxer. A second eight-count followed with Burke holding on for the bell.
A combination of left and right hooks continued to rain down on Burke at the start of the second giving the referee no choice but to halt the contest in favour of Roberts.
Next up for Roberts was Jordan Harris from Lions ABC, performing in front of his home crowd in Dudley.
Roberts took the attack to the home favourite, scoring with right hands and left hooks to the chin.
With Harris trapped on the ropes the referee stepped in to give him a standing count.
Harris was already feeling the pace and was unable to answer the bell at the start of the second round with this corner retiring him to complete another win for Roberts.
Roberts had to settle for a majority points win over Tom Loach of Wednesbury at a tournament in Walsall.
Loach had won an earlier clash on points, but Roberts was in no mood to allow it to happen again.
The first round was an even affair with both boxers giving no quarter.
As the second progressed Roberts found his range and banged home some hard left hooks to the head, coupled with some sharp body shots.
Loach fired back with straight lefts and rights but was guilty of holding to try and calm the work rate of the Worcester boxer.
The non-stop pace continued until the final bell with both boxers receiving an ovation from the crowd for their efforts.
Boxing on the same bill was Worcester welterweight Ali Yousaf who faced Ed Sharpe of Graisley ABC.
The first round was a muted affair but, at the start of the second, Sharpe came alive and attacked Yousaf from the bell.
Long right hands from Sharpe caught Yousaf on the chin which kept him on the back foot for long periods.
The Worcester boxer could only answer with the occasional single punch which in the end was not enough as Sharpe was given a unanimous points win.
