GRAHAM Turner has been scouring the Championship for talent as he attempts to bolster his squad in the close season.

The Bulls boss wants to make some quality additions to a side that finished 16th in League Two.

"We need to bring in some fresh faces," he said. "To be brutally honest, we need to bring in some better players and that's what we're doing now.

"We've got a wish list and we know the sort of calibre of players that we start off looking at.

"Some of them are with Championship clubs at the moment, some of them are fairly experienced players.

"We're not naive enough to think we'll get too many of them, we might just get one from that sort of level. As you get the rejections you move down the list and eventually somebody will arrive that will do the club a good job."

Turner is determined to boost the club's firepower after his players struggled to find the net during the second half of the season.

"I think the last two, two-and-a-half months of the season highlighted where we were short and what we need to do," he said.

"I think there is no disguising the fact we didn't score enough goals."

Turner also admits it is not an easy task keeping hold of the best players in his current squad.

"There is no such thing now as a retained list because the retain and transfer, the old system, went out years ago. All the power has moved to the players.

"All the strength is with the players. You make them an offer, they've got a month to sit on that offer and, in the meantime, they can shop around and negotiate with other clubs. They can use your offer as a lever or come back and ask for more money.

"It is a wait-and-see situation. It is a difficult situation for clubs."
