HUNDREDS of martial arts enthusiasts attended an eventful weekend of celebrations to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Worcester Ju-jutsu Club (Taijutsu Kai).
The club was founded by Ross Iannoccaro in 1980 and has achieved numerous accolades over the years, including British and world champions.
One of Iannoccaro’s members, Joe Duffy, headlined the UFC in Dublin this month.
As part of the celebrations, the organisers held a successful Midland area title fight night show, followed by a training seminar the next day.
Iannoccaro said: “In the past 35 years I have had the pleasure of teaching ju-jutsu self-defence to thousands of children and adults.
“Some of the juniors at our celebration were the children of the children I taught in the 1980s and 1990s.”
As a mark of his national and international achievements and contribution to ju-jutsu, Iannoccaro was awarded his eighth dan - which was one of the highest accolades in the martial arts world.
He continues to coach alongside his son Lee at Worcester Ju-jutsu Club, who are based at St John’s Sports Centre, Malvern Road.
