WORCESTER Amateur Boxing Club welterweight Ali Yousaf turned in a strong performance to beat Craig Cook of Telford in a tournament at Shrewsbury.
Cook came into the ring on the back of a knock-out victory and started the first round throwing heavy punches with both hands.
Yousaf also had the same idea and during a heated exchange Cook found himself on the canvas from a crushing right hand to the chin. Clearly shaken, he manged to evade Yousaf with good footwork to reach the end of the round.
The pace dropped slightly during the second, but heavy punches continued from both boxers.
Yousaf started to pick his shots in the third and at the bell was awared a unanimous points victory.
Worceter schoolboy Ed Morris was involved in a skilful bout against Louis Miskin of Newtown.
Considering it was only their second bout, both boxers im-pressed, using sharp jabs and good movement.
Morris started to edge in front but, at the final bell, Miskin was given a split decision.
