CRAIG Wood and Sean Lloyd helped Kidderminster Victoria through the National Clubs Knockout first round.
They beat Birmingham League Division Two outfit Fordhouses by three wickets with Wood batting impressively and Lloyd sensibly.
Batting first, Fordhouses had a horrendous start when Peter Stevens took wickets with his first two balls. Marc Derrick added two more in the fifth over to leave the hosts on 13-4.
Fordhouses eventually managed 156 all out from 41.2 overs with Hussein (35 not out) top scoring.
Andy Siwicki took 3-12, Mark Mansell 2-21, Derrick 2-26 and Stevens 2-40, while Josh Knappett also claimed a wicket.
KVCC started badly as well, losing Jonathan Wright (4) and Mansell (1).
Knappett added 11, Siwicki 14 and Stevens 14 but Wood was steadying the ship with 53.
Lloyd (17no) kept the scoreboard ticking over to guide KVCC home with nearly eight overs left.
In the Williamson Trophy second round, KVCC lost to Moseley by nine wickets.
They could only manage 146 all out from 35 overs and Moseley passed the target in just 27.5 overs.
Mansell was out first ball and Wood followed for a duck but skipper Wright (47) and Siwicki (40) improved matters.
But there was little support with New Zealander Kevin Forde falling for 10.
Hussein took 4-30 and then Moseley knocked off the required runs easily.
A slow wicket did not help Forde but he will find the Chester Road track more suitable for his pace.
