WORCESTER Dominies and Guild lost by 18 runs in their first game of the season at Cutnall Green.

Dominies won the toss and elected to field first but it soon proved a bad decision.

Green's openers put on 119 with Alun Morgan (58) and Paul Hutchins (90) smashing the ball to all parts of the ground.

They were helped by poor bowling and fielding by Dominies.

Jamie Lewis (1-32) and Chris Miles (2-35) were the pick of the bowlers with Matt Loynes (1-43) and Matt Gammon (2-46) also picking up wickets.

Quick runs lower down the order from Gary Gough (24 not out) and Tariq Hussain (15) took Green up to 230-6 off their 40 overs.

Dominies' reply started slowly but Oliver Meadows picked up the pace before being bowled for 49 by L Poultney (2-27). The middle order collapsed until Miles and Luke Bantock came to the crease.

Miles smashed a 20-ball 50 but eventually holed out to long-on for a rapid and superb 62 which included six sixes.

Bantock was eventually run-out for a well-made 29, leaving the tail-end with too much to do.

Tariq (3-28) and Hutchins (2-23) cleaned up the lower order, leaving Dominies 18 runs short.
