DIRECTOR of cricket Steve Rhodes is convinced his side has the character to bounce back from today's Friends Provident Trophy defeat to Leicestershire at New Road.

Worcestershire's victory bid was derailed as they lost four wickets in the space of five balls, but Rhodes insists it will not affect the players' confidence.

He said: "We were second best and we are disappointed, but we're not getting too down-hearted by it.

"We'll take it on the chin, learn from it and move on.

"We're not getting carried away - it's a defeat and it has hurt us, but we'll bounce back from it and come back stronger against Notts.

"In all departments we could have played better - with the bat, with the ball and in the field.

"When Steve Davies got out, we needed less than seven-an-over with five wickets left so we definitely fancied our chances, but it wasn't to be.

"I'd like to give credit to the opposition, they squeezed us, bowled tight and certainly deserved their win with the way they fielded."
