WORCESTERSHIRE director of cricket Steve Rhodes is unconcerned that New Road wicketkeeper Steven Davies has not been included in England's 25-man squad for the summer international season.
New national coach Peter Moores, who coached Sussex to their first County Championship title in 2003 and took charge of the National Academy in 2005, has named Matthew Prior as understudy to current gloveman Paul Nixon.
However, Rhodes does not believe Prior's inclusion is down to Moores' Sussex connections and is confident Davies has a bright future ahead.
He said: "The selectors have said that no-one is out of the equation and there are many good cricketers not in the 25."
Rhodes' comments were backed up by chairman of selectors David Graveney, who said: "The wicket-keeping position remains a competitive area. Paul Nixon and Matt Prior have been included but will be aware that they face strong competition from 'keepers outside of the squad."
