THERE may have been no goals but Harriers manager Mark Yates will be pleased not to have suffered any injury setbacks two weeks before his side's FA Trophy final with Stevenage Borough.

Yates had stressed beforehand that getting all his players through the game without any knocks was the priority, especially as key defender Jonny Harkness will miss the game after he was sent off in last week's defeat to Grays Athletic.

Crawley seemed to have similar ideas and it was little surprise the game deteriorated into a predictable stalemate.

The hosts were deducted 10 points for going into administration in the summer and, at one stage during pre-season, it looked like they would struggle to field a full side for the first match of the campaign.

Had it not been for that 10-point deduction, Crawley would be comfortably inside the top half. As it was, Harriers sealed 10th place with this result.

Youngster Scott Eaton was handed his first-ever start for the club as Yates looked to rest a number of key players.

Luke Reynolds and Gary Hay came into the side as both Iyseden Christie and James Constable were given a breather.

Hay and Reynolds both had good chances but the hosts would have taken the lead had Stuart Whitehead not got back on his line to stop an effort from Magnus Okuonghae.

Right winger Tony Scully was a constant threat for Town and had two shots which Steve Taylor did well to save in the Kidderminster goal.

Taylor also got down well to save from Stephen Evans just two minutes after the half-time break.

Mark Creighton, once again one of the best performers in a Harriers shirt, came close with a powerful header from Jon Brady's 70th-minute corner that landed on the roof of the net but a goalless draw always seemed the most likely outcome.

Harriers' players can now concentrate all their thoughts on their match at the new Wembley as they look to finish the season off in style.

Harriers: Taylor, Sedgemore, Creighton, Whitehead, Blackwood (Hurren 31), Brady, Penn, McGrath, Reynolds, Eaton (Russell 62), Hay (Christie 79). Subs not used Bevan, Howarth. Attendance: 1,664.
