STOURPORT Swifts face their most important game for six years on Saturday as they bid to avoid relegation from Southern League Division One Midlands.

The Walshes Meadow club, who won promotion from the Midland Alliance in 2001, are currently bottom of the table and know anything less than a last-day victory would condemn them to the drop.

Phil Mullen's side need to beat Cinderford Town at Walshes Meadow and hope Berkhamsted Town lose at home to Solihull to secure safety.

Three points part the sides going into the final fixtures and Berkhamsted have a one-goal better goal difference.

Manager Mullen said: "We have got to win and they have got to lose - it's as simple as that. They are at home and we are at home. We are just going to put everything into it and keep our fingers crossed that we get the result.

"It's unfortunate that we have to rely on them slipping up. They only need a point but we have got to concentrate on ourselves to get the three points. That's all we can do."

Swifts are sweating on the fitness of several players ahead of Saturday's vital match.

Defenders Scott Stamps (chest) and Neil Manton (broken nose), along with striker Mitch Butler (hamstring), were all injured in the 5-1 defeat at champions Brackley Town at the weekend.

Craig Webb (groin) and Mark Wolsey (calf), both midfielders, missed last Saturday's match and are doubts for the Cinderford visit.

Swifts conceded all the goals in the second-half against Brackley.

Matt Aubrey scored the visitors' consolation but Mullen added: "I felt, up until they scored, we were as good if not better than them at times.

"I can't knock them for the effort but three of the goals, particularly the second one which killed us off, were a disaster. We have been plagued by those sort of mistakes for some time."
