KIDDERMINSTER Harriers' Jonny Harkness is set to miss the club's big Wembley date after his second red card in as many Conference games tonight.

The Irish left-back had only just returned from a one-game ban for a dismissal against Aldershot last Tuesday when he saw red for violent conduct in the 3-0 defeat at Grays.

Harkness walked on 23 minutes after an incident involving Andrew Sambrook and is expected to be suspended for the FA Trophy final with Stevenage Borough on May 12.

Harriers, who had goalkeeper Scott Bevan sent off in Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Morecambe, suffered their first away league loss in more than two months.

They went a goal down on seven minutes after James Constable was adjudged to have fouled Simon Downer following Stuart Thurgood's free-kick.

Midfielder Thurgood thumped home the penalty and relegation-fighters Grays went on to dominate the first-half, adding to their tally on 43 minutes through an unmarked Downer's header. Harriers boss Mark Yates sent his red-faced players back onto the pitch almost immediately during the half-time break.

But they could not improve matters in the second period although winger Simon Russell and substitute Luke Reynolds forced saves from Grays goalkeeper Danny Knowles.

Harriers' Steve Taylor denied Aaron O'Connor, Alex Rhodes and sub Leroy Griffiths who then added the third goal in the late stages.

Victories for Grays and Halifax ensured Southport and Tamworth join St Alban's City in being relegated from the Conference.

Harriers: Taylor, Kenna, Whitehead, Creighton, Harkness, Russell, Sedgemore, McGrath (Hay 75), Constable (Brady 45), Christie (Reynolds 62), Blackwood. Subs not used: Eaton, Howarth.

Attendance: 846.
