FORMER Cheltenham Town youngster Nathan Hughes scored the only goal as Hereford FC won their first game at Edgar Street 1-0 against higher-ranked FC United of Manchester in front of 4,257 fans.
It was the biggest crowd at the stadium since the 2012 FA Cup replay against Cheltenham for Hereford United, who have since been wound up due to heavy debts.
Midland League Premier Division side Hereford, managed by Peter Beadle, won their opening pre-season friendly 3-2 at Malvern Town last Tuesday watched by 2,006 supporters.
