GRAHAM Turner has hit out at two refereeing decisions which he says has ruined Hereford United's disciplinary record.

Striker Tim Sills was shown two yellow cards shortly after replacing Steve Guinan ag-ainst Swindon last Saturday and Dean Beckwith was dismissed at Walsall on Monday.

Turner felt his players were hard done by on each occasion but it was the actions of Lincolnshire official Gary Sutton after Beckwith's red card that particularly riled the Hereford chief.

He said: "Our previous good disciplinary record is in tatters after Tim Sills and Dean Beckwith were dismissed. Both were poor decisions."

He added: "I attempted to talk to the referee at Walsall but to no avail. Managers, who, as we know, can get a little hot under the collar when it comes to officials, are asked to wait for a half-an-hour cooling down period before going into the referee's room.

"I observed this directive from the Football League and was promptly told by the guard' on the referee's door that he would see me at 5.25pm.

"I then stood outside his door like a naughty kid waiting to see the headmaster. Finally, after 5.30pm, I asked the guard to open the door and he managed to get it open a couple of inches. The message coming out was that he would be another 10 minutes.

"By this time I knew the players would be waiting on the coach. It went into a complete farce then, with me having a conversation with the referee through a two-inch wide gap in the door.

"They still would not open it. Quite why I do not know."
