SIXTY and Worcestershire Motor Club member Matt Pearce helped Mic O'Brien to third place in the BTRDA National Gold Star Championship.
Co-driver Pearce took on the North Humberside Rally in O'Brien's Ford Focus WRC 02 across long, high speed straights in the Langdale and Dalby forests.
It was their first event since a disastrous outing on the Malcolm Wilson Stages which ended with a crash into a ditch on the Grizdale round.
They had the car rebuilt at Ford Works Team base after a fire on a test day destroyed the wiring loom and the hydraulic pipes.
So they made a cautious start on stages one and two in North Yorkshire but they picked up the pace in the later rounds. This did, however, lead to a number of costly high speed overshoots on junctions, dropping 20 seconds.
Pearce noted a top speed of 124mph at one point on gravel.
The duo finished seventh overall, lifting them to third in the championship.
Their next event is the Somerset Stages in Minehead on April 21.
