JUSTIN Langer believes former Worcestershire captain Tom Moody will leave the Sri Lanka job after the World Cup and coach Western Australia next season.
Langer, who retired from Test cricket in January, gave up the captaincy of his state after speaking with Moody, his former team-mate over the weekend.
Moody said last week he would wait until the World Cup was over before making a decision.
However, Langer was confident an agreement had already been reached in Perth.
"I spoke to Graeme Wood, the new chief executive at the WACA, and then I rang Tom and had a talk and it fell into place," Langer said.
"When I found out Tommy was coming, it seemed the right time to stand down from the captaincy."
Moody, a former Western Australia player, spent nine seasons at New Road from 1991-1999. He was an integral part of Worcestershire's NatWest Trophy win in 1994 before going on to coach and direct cricket at the County Ground.
At the start of the year Moody withdrew from the field to coach Australia and Tim Nielsen was picked to succeed John Buchanan.
Speculation in Australia suggests that former Warwick-shire batsman Trevor Penney will be Moody's assistant, while Gloucestershire's Marcus North is favoured to replace Langer as captain.
