VIKRAM Solanki was in fine touch as he led Worcestershire to victory over Glamorgan in a one-day warm-up game at New Road on Easter Monday.
The skipper top-scored for the hosts with a fluent 88-ball knock of 87 and Ben Smith continued his good pre-season form with an unbeaten 72 as the County posted an impressive 276-6 from their 50 overs.
Another positive note for director of cricket Steve Rhodes was an elegant innings of 49 from Moeen Ali, who helped put on 109 for the second wicket with Solanki.
Spin duo Ray Price and Gareth Batty then combined to restrict the Welsh county to 248-7 off their allotted overs.
Glamorgan put on 72 for the first wicket before Price's left-arm spin secured a breakthough in the 16th over.
He went on to take 3-21 off 10 overs, while Batty snared 2-38 from eight with his off-spin.
Ben Wright top-scored for the visitors with 86 not out and opener Nicky Peng weighed in with 69.
Worcestershire complete their pre-season programme with a two-day game at Essex on Thursday and Friday before starting competitive action against Durham at the County Ground on Wednesday, April 18.
Overseas players Phil Jaques and Doug Bollinger, who both arrived at New Road today, are set to travel with the squad to Essex.
