BISHOPS Cleeve became the first team to complete the double over the ragged Robins who had Nathan Vaughan red-carded for the third time this season.

The points were as good as lost when the goalkeeper saw red for dissent 16 minutes from time and there was no chance of another comeback following Saturday's escape at Stourport.

It was another frustrating afternoon for the home following but the visitors were full value for the points as United lost for the third time in five home outings.

Vaughan had been the busier of the two goalkeepers in a goalless first-half when Mark Owen had the two best chances but shot wide after 12 minutes, two minutes after seeing his shot on the turn flash just wide of post and crossbar.

Daniel Lennon also fired past the same part of the goal as half-time arrived.

Liam Daly produced two efforts on goal in the second period but failed to direct headers from dead-ball strikes on target.

The visitors took the lead after 59 minutes with a soft goal when a free-kick was allowed to bounce across the six-yard box and Nick Williams found the empty net.

Substitute James Fox's overhead kick was off target after 68 minutes and Cleeve doubled their lead a couple of minutes later when James Veresci fired past Vaughan after more slack marking at a set-piece.

Vaughan's anger as Steven Hands lay prostrate on the turf saw the referee flourish an instant red card that ended home hopes of salvaging even a point.

United's miserable afternoon was summed up in stoppage-time when Fox missed a glorious chance.

n Malvern Town drew 2-2 at Cinderford Town with goals from Coles and Ed Lyons, while Nathan Lamey scored the winner for Bromsgrove Rovers who defeated Stourbridge 1-0. Bottom-of-the-table Stourport Swifts lost 1-0 at Chasetown.
