DESPITE a brave run-chase, Bromsgrove couldn't overhaul Avoncroft's massive 121-2 in the Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Sunday Division, falling 15 runs shorts.
Avoncroft opener Andy Nichol led from the front by making 27 before having to retire. Mark Whitehead (27no) and Adam Rodway (21no) also gave the innings some impetus as 'Croft posted an imposing total. Jordan Rose (1-17) and Paul Munn (1-37) were the Bromsgrove wicket-takers.
In their reply, Bromsgrove started off running every thing and they paid the penalty by losing wickets to run outs at frequent intervals. Openers Greg Gibbin and Rose were both run out inside three overs.
Fisher was then run out for 14, but Munn took his side close by hitting 26 and retiring. However, Munn did not have time to reach the changing area before he had to return to the crease as Matt Banham was bowled first ball by Paul Athey for no score.
Will Lake was stumped for 21 and Munn batted on to 41 before being bowled by Rodway with his side 15 runs short of victory. Athey (1-15), Jon Bird (1-38) and Rodway (1-9) were the wicket-takers.
Worcester Nomads A' surpassed Cutnall Green's 118-6 for the loss of no wickets. Neil Fletcher top-scored for the Green with 38 and he was well supported by Derek Higgins, who hit 19.
For Nomads, openers Derek Austin and Malcolm Jones put on 45 for the first wicket, before Austin retired.
Paul Gardner joined Jones and they took the score to 80 before Gardner also had to retire. Jones was the next batsman to retire, leaving Danny and Liam O'Driscoll to see their side to a comfortable win.
In the Monday Division, Dominies and Guild beat Chaddesley Corbett by four wickets.
Opener Sam Taylor contributed 21 and Tom Bowden batted well for 39 before being bowled by Andy Wilkes off the last ball of Chaddesley's innings.
Tom Gwynne (1-23), Andy Wilks (1-21), Steve Miles (1-15) and Liam Gwynne (1-7) took the wickets.
Brothers Liam (25) and Tom Gwynne (15) were both undefeated as Dominies reached their victory target with 2.2 overs to spare.
In the other match, Rushwick slumped to 17-3 and couldn't recover sufficiently to post a score to trouble Nomads B'. Matt Champion batted well to reach 25, but Rushwick could only manage 79-5.
Dave Pearson (1-11), Andy Leach (2-22), Tom Marsh (1-9) and Guy Davies (1-3) were the pick of the Nomads' bowlers.
Although Ben Chatfield was dismissed for a duck in the first over, Andy Leach (13) and Reg Dixon (17) put Nomads well on their way to victory.
After Dixon's dismissal, Tom Marsh joined Dave Pearson and they took the score to 78 by the last ball of the ninth over before Matt Perkins struck for the third time, bowling Marsh for 18.
Guy Davies joined Pearson but the match ended off the first ball of the 10th over giving the Nomads attaining a comfortable win with 2.5 overs to spare.
Perkins (3-28) was the pick of the Rushwick attack, supported by Dan Hughes (1-11), Matt Champion (0-32) and Liam Wood (0-14).
