BROMSGROVE Rovers head to Bishops Cleeve on Saturday looking for the victory that will secure their place in the Southern League Division One Midlands play-offs (3pm).

Rod Brown's side drew 1-1 at Cinderford Town in mid-week, thanks to Jermaine Clarke's equaliser, to maintain their grip on second place.

Victory in Gloucestershire would ensure Rovers a top-five finish but they would still require further wins to end as runners-up and take the home advantage in the play-offs.

Boss Brown said: "We need one win to guarantee the play-offs and another two to get second place.

"We have got five games left and if we win two or three that should be enough for second.

"It's always a lottery in the play-offs. You could say there is home advantage with finishing second but teams raise their game at Bromsgrove.

"However, we are at the stage of the season where the position we finish in is important to me because we have been second all season.

"I would like to take the pressure off the players by getting the right results."

Assistant manager John Snape missed Tuesday's draw in the Forest of Dean through illness and starts a three-game suspension at Bishops Cleeve.

Defender Rapinder Gill (hamstring) is not expected to return until Monday's home crunch clash against Stourbridge.

Midfielder Danny Scheppell (ankle) continues to struggle and is a doubt for Saturday.

Brown said: "I was pleased with a point at Cinderford. They were well-organised, were the better side and took the game to us and got the goal.

"We came back strongly and in the second-half we had most of the play without really hurting them. Coming away without losing was the key."
