FOUR of six University of Worcester teams made it through the BUSA Championships knockout first round.
The men's basketball seconds defeated King's College 80-62 in a tight game up until the end of the third quarter.
But their superior skill level and teamwork made sure they ran out easy winners.
However, the women's basketball team lost 40-33 after their trip to Liverpool. The university's football teams enjoyed an outstanding week with the men's fifths defeating Anglia Ruskin firsts 2-0 to book a tie with Oxford Brookes fourths.
A 2-1 victory over Southampton continued the women's superb year to earn a date with Essex.
In the game of the day, the men's firsts defeated University of Gloucestershire on penalties.
With the game 1-1 at full-time, Gloucester scored with two minutes remaining of extra-time only for Worcester to level with a last-gasp spot-kick.
With the penalties at 4-4, Gloucester missed and Rob Taylor stepped up to fire Worcester into the next round where they travel to St Mary's Twickenham.
The men's hockey team lost a close game with Leeds fourths 3-2.
