CANNONS crashed out of the Worcestershire Cup with a heavy defeat to the Stourport first team.
There were losses all round as the Worcester team came up against stiff opposition in the current cup holders who top Division One.
Former full-time professional Luke Rawlings, Stourport's first seed, dispatched Cannons' Richard Colman in an entertaining but one-sided affair.
Cannons team manager Tony Allen said: "If we continue with our league success this is the sort of team that we will be playing every week so it is good for us to get a taste of the standard and bring us back to ground after a long stretch of wins."
Cannons have only lost one match in Division Two so far this season and can confirm a promotion spot if they beat Hagley in their next game.
A 3-2 win over second-placed Hereford firmed up the team's position at the top with wins from Colman, Andy Lawson and Martin Cook.
A 5-0 whitewash of Redditch and a 4-1 win at Club Ventura extended their lead.
Allen added: "As long as the team remain focused and we all stay injury-free there should be no reason for us to miss out on promotion now."
Against Malvern, Lawson and Evans put in strong displays to ensure a 4-1 victory.
