THE Football Association have confirmed they are in-vestigating the incident which soured Kidderminster Harriers' match with Exeter City.

Harriers manager Mark Yates is alleged to have headbutted Exeter winger Lee Elam following Saturday's Conference clash at Aggbor-ough, which Kidderminster lost 2-0.

Harriers and Yates have yet to elaborate on the incident, and yesterday the club were saying no comment' to any questions on the incident.

Elam is alleged to have provoked the Harriers boss, but Exeter have said they plan to take no further action with their midfielder.

However, both sides are unlikely to have heard the last of the matter with the FA looking into events, including the possibility of video evidence, after being sent a report by referee Amy Rayner who is believed to have red-carded Yates.

An FA spokesman said: "We have received the referee's report and we are making further enquiries."

Exeter's sporting director Julian Tagg said: "Lee is fine. He has got some bruising but that's all. The stance from the club is that we are confident at this point of time that the authorities will take the right course of action. The referee did see the incident and she red-carded the manager.

"So she has seen it and the FA is taking action which is why we are comfortable leaving it in the hands of the authorities."

Yates was also embroiled in a controversy last August during pre-season friendly with Worcester City at St George's Lane.

The Harriers chief led his players from the pitch with 19 minutes remaining following a dressing room bust-up between City assistant manager Andy Morrison and Kidderminster skipper Mark Creighton.

Morrison was handed a three-match ban by City and a further six-game suspension and fine by the FA after admitting a charge of violent conduct.
