STOURPORT Swifts gained a vital victory at struggling Spalding United in Southern League Division One Midlands.
Ex-Kidderminster Harriers and Bromsgrove Rovers striker Stuart Payne scored both goals for Swifts.
Boss Phil Mullen must be glad he tempted Payne back into senior football after a stint in the Kidderminster Sunday League.
The forward tucked away Nick Heath's pass on 15 minutes to put Stourport ahead and doubled the lead after a good turn nine minutes later.
Neil Thorpe brought Spalding back into the game with a free-kick seven minutes into the second period.
The match referee went down injured soon after, causing a delay, and eventually had to swap with one of his assistants.
Third-from-bottom Stourport did not relinquish the three points with Heath, Richard Colwell and Payne all nearly adding a third goal.
