THE mood in our camp ahead of today's massive NatWest T20 Blast quarter-final at Surrey is very positive.
We are full of confidence and everyone is really excited - The Oval is a fantastic venue to play a quarter-final at and hopefully there will be a big crowd. We just have to enjoy the day.
Getting through the group stage was a big goal of ours this season and it wasn't easy by any means. There were some good sides in the North Group with six Division One teams in there.
We have a chance today - it's a one-off game and there are some star names in the Surrey team - but we are a good side and, if we can perform on the day, we have every chance of winning.
The Oval is a great ground, we have won there before, and hopefully it can bring out the best in us again.
I imagine the pitch will spin today - Surrey tend to play four spinners - but hopefully that will suit us too as we have Shaaiq Choudhry and Brett D'Oliveira in the squad as well as me bowling dibbly-dobbly off-cutters too.
We do have a young side, but I think they will be fine. We have confidence from the games we have won and there is also a fearlessness about the youngsters.
The way we have batted in all competitions - especially the T20 shows that - even if they have perhaps been a little bit too fearless in the 50-over competition for mine and Bumpy's liking!
That's the way they play their cricket, so hopefully we can go down there, embrace it and enjoy the occasion.
Over the last few years, all of these guys have developed a greater maturity - people like Ben Cox, who has played a fair bit of cricket, but has really delivered this year.
Also, we have the likes of Tom Fell and Tom Kohler-Cadmore coming through and it is amazing to think Pepsi (Kohler-Cadmore) is still only 19 - he has a bright future.
It has been really enjoyable for me to watch them grow up. They have been learning on the job, but they are doing a fantastic job of it at the moment.
I have enjoyed the format of T20 this year with it split over a longer period of time. One year we played 16 games in the space of three weeks and it got a bit tedious towards the end.
But the way the group worked out this year with three sides vying for a couple of quarter-final spots on the last day made it really exciting.
In front of their own fans, Surrey will be expecting to win, no doubt, so the pressure will be on them. We quite like our underdog tag, so hopefully we can perform well and give them a game. If we perform well, we are a match for anybody.
One of the real positives of our season is that we have been quite unorthodox in the way we play with people like Saeed Ajmal, who has gone now, Jack Shantry and Colin Munro.
We have guys who are different and they are not easy to bowl to or to face with the bat and hopefully we can use that to our advantage.
