LEIGH Bedwell is set to remain as Worcester City's keeper for tomorrow's visit of Histon (3pm) despite Jose Veiga's return to training.
The 20-year-old, drafted in on loan from Swindon Town last week as cover for the injured Ryan Boot following Callum Preston's return to Birmingham City, has kept back-to-back clean sheets in the victory over Vauxhall Motors and goalless draw against Stockport County.
Boot, on loan from Port Vale, is still struggling with a knee injury but Veiga is nearing full fitness having missed the last five Skrill North matches with a similar problem.
But Bedwell, the seventh keeper City have used this season, has impressed manager Carl Heeley.
The Worcester boss said: "Jose's back training but we're not going to make changes for the sake of it.
"Leigh has had two saves to make in two games and that's testament to everybody else in front of him. But they're crucial saves and that's what your keeper is there to do.
"The lad's done fine and we brought him here because we needed a keeper and also to develop his game. He's got the shirt and it's his to lose."
Martin Devaney is another who could keep his place in the side following his second-half exploits against Stockport.
The Sheffield-based former Kidderminster Harriers, Barnsley and Cheltenham Town winger, who signed earlier this month, was City's chief creative force against the Hatters.
Heeley said: "Martin has got 300-plus League games under his belt and he's a quality player who hasn't lost his hunger and desire to play the game.
"We've purposely not overplayed him in the first four games because we don't want to fatigue him too much but he looked sharp.
"We know we've got a quality acquisition and a player that brings experience and a little bit of quality."
The Histon match is City's third home fixture in a row as they seek to record a double over the Cambridgeshire outfit following a 2-1 win in January.
That success sparked the Blue and Whites' revival as they went on to win their next three matches and have won eight of their last 13.
It also ended a four-match unbeaten run for Histon and the Stutes have not won since.
Although City dropped to 15th in the table on Tuesday, they are still 12 points above Histon, who occupy the third relegation spot.
"If we play anything like we can I expect us to win the game," Heeley said. "That said, Histon pass the ball really well but physically we've got to have the upper hand and make them struggle to deal with us."
