A HISTORIC fourth British Universities and Colleges Sports title in a row remains on the cards for the University of Worcester's basketball team.
The students defeated University College London 88-57 in the last eight and Durham 92-72 in the semi-finals to set up a final against Loughborough at Surrey Sports Park on Wednesday, March 26.
It is also be the eighth time in 10 years the university team, coached by director of basketball Paul James, has reached the final.
James said: "I am really delighted for this team because they struggled during the regular season but they have worked really hard to put themselves in a great position and now it's anybody's game."
Worcester got the better of UCL with Wolves star Will Creekmore scoring 23 points, while Kalil Irving chipped in with 11 and Calvin Morant-Hudson 10.
In the semis, Worcester were up against the majority of Durham's British Basketball League Wildcats team but came through with flying colours.
Daniel Belgrave led the way with 26 points and Creekmore scored 23, along with 12 each from Caylin Raftopoulos and Alex Anderson.
Coach James said: "It was a brilliant win against Durham. They were red-hot favourites for the game but we played tremendously well.
"We hadn't beaten them in the regular season but we changed a few things around and brought in Alex Anderson to guard Devin Ginty (Wildcats point guard) and defensively we got it all together."
Worcester reached the last eight by finishing fourth in Premier Division North, a league topped by Durham with Sheffield Hallam second and final opponents Loughborough third.
