THIS weekend could prove to be a defining moment in the season for Worcester Wolves.

We face two British Basketball League games in under 24 hours, away at Plymouth Raiders on Saturday (7.30pm) and then at Cheshire Phoenix on Sunday (5.30pm).

One thing is for sure, we have to get something out of these matches. Two or four points would be great but not getting any points would not be acceptable.

After Leicester Riders lost to Newcastle Eagles and Durham Wildcats last weekend, we are positioned beautifully to go on if we can continue to win the games that we're supposed to and then pick off one or two of the others.

But make no bones about it, this weekend is as tough as they come. We're looking forward to it but it's going to be a massive challenge.

In the league this year we have seen that if you don't prepare well for teams or play up to your level you can lose. It helps me focus our team in that if we don't show up we can get beaten too.

That's what makes this league so exciting as, with the exception of the bottom two sides, any team can beat anybody.

We will just look to try and win the next game. With Leicester having now lost five games, we would have to lose six if we finished top for them to go ahead of us because we've got the head-to-head. We have still got the game with Newcastle on February 28 which will decided who gets the head-to-head there and then two games against Sheffield.

They are all big games but we've still got to get over the likes of Plymouth and Cheshire first. We've got to take care of our own business and hopefully other teams will keep falling by the wayside.

We are also through to the BBL Trophy quarter-finals after winning 83-72 at London Lions last Sunday.

Overall it was a very good victory. We got off to a bit of a slow start because the bus was late getting to the venue so we didn't have the usual warm-up.

We were lacklustre defensively in the first-half and weren't up to speed, giving up 50 points in the half which was very disappointing and not something we generally do.

But once we got the first-half out of our system, I thought we did a tremendous job on them defensively and scored freely ourselves.

I'm pleased to have got that one out of the way and look forward to a tough tie against Newcastle on February 21.

We've proved that we can compete with them because we've beaten them once in the league. It's a tie that we'll look forward to.
