MARK Yates faces a major drawback of the loan market after Saturday's Nationwide Conference clash at struggling Southport.

Yates, who is pursuing a fourth league win in a row, will field blossoming strike partnership Iyseden Christie and James Constable at the seaside resort - but possibly for the last time.

Top-scorer Christie and Constable, with five goals from his last four games including two in the Boxing Day win at Stafford, are being borrowed from Rochdale and Walsall respectively.

Although Constable's deal continues to run for much of January, 10-goal Christie is due to go back to managerless Rochdale after this weekend.

Yates admitted: "It's just unfortunate that they're both loan players at the moment and we're trying to sort something out with at least one of them.

"They work well together, they've got a good understanding and when they play closer to each other like they did at times against Stafford, they're a real physical threat.

"They gel well and have both got a bit of everything. They are strong, quite quick, decent in the air and, for some reason, they complement each other.

"We're trying to sort something out with Iyseden and Rochdale but it's going to take a little bit of time. Hopefully, the sooner the better.

"We've made a good impression on James and I want us to do something further. I just hope Walsall keep winning and they don't need him."

Harriers stormed to 11th in the Conference table with wins over Gravesend (3-1), Altrincham (3-2) and Stafford (2-1).

They continue to impress on their travels with five victories and three draws from 12 league trips - but teams around the bottom of the table have given them problems at home.

Yates' men have failed to beat Forest Green, Tamworth, Crawley and St Albans yet defeated Southport 2-0 in September with goals from Andy White and Gavin Hurren.

The Kidderminster manager added: "If our attitude is like it was at Stafford and we play like we did and take our chances then we have a great chance of going there and getting another three points.

"We've beaten them already but we certainly won't be taking them lightly. They're scrapping for their lives and are in a decent little run of form themselves."

Skipper Stuart Whitehead was brought back into central defence at Stafford, while Hurren returned to a midfield role ahead of on-loan Baggies teenager Rob Davies who dropped to the bench.
