MALVERN Town manager Paul Molloy is delighted with his side's start to the Southern League Division One Midlands holiday fixture programme.

With two of their four matches completed, Malvern have taken four points from a possible six with a 1-1 draw at Evesham United following a 3-2 home win against Spalding United at the weekend.

The one downside was the sending-off of striker Wesley Joyce after just nine minutes of the Spalding match.

But boss Molloy said: "We managed to get back in the game and scored a couple of decent goals.

"We went in two each at half-time. We then went three at the back and went for it.

"We are starting to play a bit better now at home so hopefully we have turned the corner."

Molloy, also delighted with his team's performance against Evesham, is without Darren Wade for Saturday's trip to Willenhall Town through a ban (3pm).

However, the forward will be available for the match with Cinderford Town at the Langland Stadium on New Year's Day.

Midfielder Brian Craven can play against Willenhall but misses the Cinderford clash through a one-match suspension.

Striker Paul Edwards remains on the sidelines after damaging ankle ligaments against Rothwell Town earlier this month.

Edwards is expected to be out for another four to five weeks.

Molloy, though, is upbeat about Saturday's game against a team who have taken 10 points from their last four matches.

He added: "They are going really well at the moment so they must be playing well. Our form is pretty good so it should be a good game."
