FORMER Kidderminster Harriers and West Brom striker Lee Hughes is set to make his debut for Forest Green Rovers against Hereford United tonight.
The 37-year-old goal-getter has joined the Skrill Premier outfit on an 18-month deal after leaving League One outfit Port Vale.
He is poised to make his bow at the New Lawn when they face the Bulls in a match being shown live on BT Sport (7.30).
It is the second time in under a fortnight that the sides have met after Hereford recorded a 1-0 victory at Edgar Street in their last match of 2013.
Following postponements due to waterlogged pitches recently, it is also the last time either team played.
Only two points separate them in the table but a win for Hereford could lift them above their rivals.
Jon Brown struck the decisive goal to beat the Gloucestershire outfit last month and he has given United a boost by extending his stay at the club until the end of the season.
The former Telford player, who has made 16 appearances for Martin Foyle’s side, originally joined on a three-month contract in the summer.
However, striker Eric Odhiambo has left the club after his contract came to an end.
Meanwhile, the total raised by Hereford fans in response to an appeal for donations has passed £20,000.
The club wanted to generate £35,000 in the last two weeks of December but the New year’s Day postponement against Kidderminster Harriers was a setback.
Consequently, the players have been paid in full for last month but other staff have only received 50 per cent.
The next home game is due to be against Southport on Saturday, January 18, meaning more donations are sought to plug the shortfall.
However, the club expect to sign new leases for Edgar Street with Herefordshire Council by next Monday, which would allow them to tie up a lucrative telecommunications contract.
