MARTLEY Spurs edged out old rivals Hallow RWMC 4-3 in their Worcester League Saturday Division derby thr-iller.
Steve Prickett and Tony Farnsworth both scored twice for Martley with Nigel Grundy notching a double for Hallow.
Martley go into the new year with a two-point lead at the top of the division with three games in hand over second- placed Upton Town.
Upton maintained their title challenge with a 3-0 win at Pershore Manor, Tom Cook netting twice and Alan Spencer once.
Powick's championship aspirations were boosted with a hard-fought 2-1 win against The Talbot with goals from Jamie Abba and Rob Perrins.
VBL Sports found themselves 3-0 down against Bedwardine but in a magnificent fightback, Oliver Dyde and Craig Ellis both bagged a brace as they snatched a 4-3 victory to keep themselves one place off the bottom of the table.
