MANAGER Carl Heeley says Worcester City will be relegated from Skrill North unless different players are brought in.
But he admits attracting new faces to the second-from-bottom Blue and Whites will be a major challenge.
Heeley labelled the majority of his team as not good enough after Saturday’s 6-1 drubbing at Bradford Park Avenue and also questioned their character.
City are back in action tomorrow night when they welcome Telford United to Aggborough (7.45pm) “We’re going to make some changes but enticing players to a struggling side is difficult and this is what I said would happen in the summer,” the Worcester boss said.
“Once you get in there (the relegation zone) it’s hard to get out and it’s difficult to get players to come and join you because people want to be challenging for play-offs and at the top end of the league.
“There aren’t many who want to come and join a relegation scrap and that’s, without doubt, what we’ve got.
“We’ve got to keep trying to change it round because we won’t get out of trouble with this group of players, that’s a fact.
“We have to make some changes and to be honest if we signed myself, Snapper (John Snape) and Matt Gardiner for tomorrow, it would be an improvement and two of us are in our mid 40s but at least we care.”
Striker Dominic Dell and winger Niall Thompson, whose loans ended last month, are also unlikely to return to the club.
Heeley explained: “They are more young lads and we’ve got enough younger players who are inexperienced and get no consistency in their performances.
“With respect to those boys, they are not the answer.
“We need some experience but so do a lot of other clubs and they are in far better situations than ourselves.”
Captain Graham Hutchison sat out the weekend trip to Yorkshire with an ankle injury and is not expected to be fit to face Telford.
Shabir Khan was back in the team against Bradford but his ongoing hernia complaint could rule him out against the Bucks.
