DIRECTOR of basketball Paul James pursues his 100th Worcester Wolves win at Manchester Giants tomorrow (5pm).
The University Arena side begin 2014 at the top of the British Basketball League following a run of five straight victories, breaking the 100-point barrier in four of them.
A sixth success would keep Wolves at the summit and also bring up the milestone for James, who marked four years in charge of the team last month.
Forward Kai Williams says Worcester will go all out for the win and believes the landmark would be nothing less than James deserves.
“Being part of a coach’s milestone, like a 100th victory, is something I believe our team will take great pride in,” he said.
“Everyone on this team and involved with the club has a great deal of respect for coach James.
“He is one of the best I have played for and it would be great to be a part of his 100th victory, whenever that may take place this season.”
It will be the third time Wolves have faced the 10th-placed Giants this season, winning 118-102 in the league in November and 88-66 in the BBL Cup in October.
Williams, who last month returned for his second stint with the club, added: “Manchester are a very good team, even though they may have had their struggles this season.
“They have a balanced team and players like James Jones, Rob Marsden and David Aliu have been as good as anyone in the league.
“They are very difficult to beat at home.”
