DIOR Angus has become the second player to be axed by Worcester City this season for refusing to play.

The winger, on loan from Kidderminster Harriers for a month, told the club he did not want to be included in the FA Trophy match against Ramsbottom United earlier this month, which City won 3-0.

Following talks with Harriers, manager Carl Heeley opted to cut short the player’s stay with the Skrill North outfit.

Angus, who featured in the league defeats to Harrogate and Leamington, follows Exodus Geohaghon in snubbing the Blue and Whites. The centre-half, who has since signed for Braintree Town, was released by Worcester last month after he refused to play in the FA Cup.

Heeley explained: “Dior has gone back to Kidderminster. He didn’t want to play in the FA Trophy for us and the agreement was that he would play in the Trophy.

“Myself, (Harriers manager) Steve Burr and Dior have spoken and we’ve agreed that’s the best way.

“It’s a shame because I can totally understand the player’s situation but I have to look at it from the club’s point of view.

“We made a statement with Exodus in a similar situation and we’ve had to come to the same outcome.

“It’s been done in the correct manner so there’s no animosity at all.”

Meanwhile, Heeley was less than impressed with referee Peter Wright for sending off Shabir Khan in Saturday’s 2-1 victory at Stalybridge Celtic.

Khan had put the visitors ahead after just two minutes but was shown a second yellow card eight minutes from time after hauling down Obi Anoruo for Celtic’s equalising penalty.

It was the centre-half’s second red card of the season — he was sent off against Gloucester in August — and he now faces another ban.

The Worcester boss, whose side host Guiseley tomorrow night, said: “Shabir Khan made two fouls in the game and got booked for both of them.

"I can think of six or seven other players who made eight, 10 or 12 fouls and they stayed on the pitch. He was very unlucky to go but, that aside, he was absolutely outstanding.

“It was very harsh and that’s when your luck’s out but Shabir was overjoyed with the rest of the lads, he wants the team to win.

“I keep saying we’re not a bottom-of-the-league team but we had to start getting results. We scored some goals last week (in the FA Trophy) and got a foothold and we needed to use it as a springboard and they’ve backed that up with another win.”
