WORCESTER Wolves director of basketball Mick Donovan has urged his players to replicate the level of performance they achieved in Sunday's British Basketball League Trophy win at Chester Jets if they are to enjoy more success in the league comepetition this season.
The 92-85 win, Wolves' first in 16 attempts, will provide the squad with a much-needed confidence boost and was just reward for weeks of hard work and endeavour on and off the court.
Donovan said: "The past couple of months have been tough for the coach and the players and this performance illustrated the character and focus that will be needed in the months ahead if we are to compete at this level.
"We have a young team and they have shown a lot of character in the game with Chester."
The side's head coach Josh Cooprider echoed Donovan's comments and was quick to emphasise the importance of the victory.
He said: "We badly needed to experience a winning feeling.
"We shot the ball extremely well and showed a lot of confidence throughout the match."
Wolves now have a break over Christmas before facing Newcastle Eagles away on Saturday, December 30.
