LUCTONIANS lost 14-11 in a crucial fixture at Longton, another side struggling to avoid relegation from Midlands One.
The hosts took the lead when centre Paul Green burst through to score and added the conversion himself.
Jeremy Wheadon slotted a penalty after 30 minutes. Further Lucs pressure saw Longton concede another penalty which Wheadon again slotted over to reduce the half-time deficit to a single point.
Within minutes of the re-start, the visitors took the lead when Charlie Meredith went over in the corner for an unconverted try after some slick passing by the three-quarters.
Luctonians had number eight Paul Hulland sin-binned and Longton surged forward for a penalty try converted by Green.
The home side were then reduced to 14 men following a yellow card. Deep into injurytime, Luctonians mounted one final attack but were penalised when close to the line. Longton cleared their lines and held on for a win.
